In order to qualify for English instruction in Quebec public schools, students must meet certain eligibility criteria under the Charter of the French Language as set out by the Quebec government. Please consult the eligibility requirements before making an appointment.
If you are interested in registering your child(ren) for the 2022-2023 school year, the dates to register are as follows:
Elementary School Registration Week for the 2022-2023 academic year will take place from January 31st to February 4th, 2022.
If one child from a family is already enrolled in a particular school, a sibling registration period will take place a week earlier. If you already have a child registered in our school, please make an appointment during the sibling registration dates.
Parents are asked to register at the EMSB elementary school nearest their residence offering the French program of their choice. For more information please call (514) 483-7200 or log on to the Board’s website at www.emsb.qc.ca.
Please refer to the EMSB website for additional information regarding the eligibility requirements for English public schools and how to register your child in an EMSB school.
Our school also registers new students throughout the school year, however, acceptance depends on classroom availability and area of residence. To register your child, please make an appointment with the school secretary.
February is filled with exciting activities, school spirit, and a continued commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment. Most importantly, we have officially passed our Anti-Bullying and Anti-Violence Plan, reinforcing our dedication to a respectful and supportive school community. This document will be posted on our school’s website. Our Anti-Bullying Day (all students are encouraged to wear a Pink Shirt) will feature an assembly and a special guest speaker, Samara O’Gorman, to further emphasize kindness, inclusion, and standing up against bullying.
This month, we also celebrate diversity with a Black History Month through classroom activities, and an assembly featuring a dance performance. We will also encourage students to express their creativity during a Valentine’s Dance organized by the DGFA. On Twins Day, students will be allowed to dress-down like their friends.
As always, academic growth remains a priority, with the end of Term 2 and important assessments. Report cards will be available on Mozaïk, and Parent-Teacher Interviews will be held online by invitation. More information will be sent to the respective parents. Should you have any concerns, and have not received an invitation, please communicate with your child’s teachers. The week of February 10 also marks Hooked on Schools, an initiative to support perseverance. We will be featuring some of our activities on their site!
Since February is also Staff Appreciation Month, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible team at Dunrae Gardens. From our dedicated teachers and office staff to our support staff, caretakers, recess and lunch supervisors, and daycare staff—each of you plays a vital role in making our school a wonderful place for students. Your hard work and commitment are truly appreciated!
We look forward to a restful Spring Break and returning with renewed energy for the final term. Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a safe and welcoming place for all students.
