Formal Science instruction begins in Grade 3 although scientific concepts are introduced as early as Kindergarten. Taught exclusively in French, our students are encouraged to explore the concepts that support life around them and extract the scientific concepts in the living, material and technological world as well as earth and space.
Dunrae also holds an annual science fair, providing the opportunity for students to investigate their own scientific questions.
Of note, in 2015, Dunrae Gardens hosted the Défi Apprenti Géni, a province wide science challenge. Different schools from different school boards participated in this competition. Groups of Cycle 2 and 3 students worked together on this year’s challenge, which as to create pick-up sticks strong enough to uphold different objects.
